Description of the genus

Annual aromatic herbs, much branched. Heads solitary, either heterogamous with white rayed female flowers or homogamous and lacking rays. Leaves 2-3-pinnatisect, repeatedly divided into segments which are narrowly linear. Receptacle conical, hollow, lacking receptacular scales. Achenes obovoid, somewhat laterally flattened, obliquely truncate above, inconspicuously 3-5-ribbed on the posterior face and without oil glands on the anterior. Pappus a membranous rim or 0.

Similar to Tripleurospermum and differing in the hollow receptacle and the details of the achenes.

Britain: 7 taxa.
